A New Wing for Buller's Elders
We're building a new 24-bed hospital wing so Buller's elders can keep receiving hospital-level and dementia care close to home. Plans are approved, the design is complete, and groundworks are already underway.
Now we're asking our community to help close the funding gap.
How We're Funding It
Trust Reserves & Bank Finance
O'Conor Home's own reserves and secured bank financing form the foundation of the project funding.
Health NZ Sustainability Funding
We have secured sustainability funding from Health New Zealand to support ongoing hospital-level care in the Buller region.
Grants, Corporate & Philanthropic
We are pursuing $2,122,472 through government grants, corporate partnerships, and philanthropic giving.
Community Fundraising
We're asking our community to contribute $800,000 or more. Every donation — large or small — brings us closer to keeping hospital-level care in Westport.
Why It Matters
Without this facility, Buller's most vulnerable residents risk being transferred to larger centres far from their families, their community, and the place they call home. O'Conor Home has served this community for over a century. This project ensures we can continue to do so for the next century.
